About the Constable's Office

Sergio L. De Leon

{Constable Sergio L. De Leon}

Constable Sergio L. De Leon, is a native of Fort Worth, but was raised in Arkansas, where he graduated from East End High School in the rural town of Bigelow. He returned to Texas in 1992 to coordinate then Governor Bill Clinton's presidential campaign in Tarrant County. He has received a Bachelor's degree in political science from Texas Wesleyan University. In September of 2000, he graduated from the Criminal Justice Training Center at Tarrant County College's Northwest Campus.

At age 29, Sergio became the youngest elected official in Tarrant County and the first Hispanic Constable in Precinct 5, a district that is both ethnically and economically diverse covering parts of south, west, and north Fort Worth. In 2001, the Precinct 5 Constable District went through the redistricting process and as a result is pleased to welcome the addition of Sansom Park, a municipality west of Fort Worth.

As Constable, De Leon has placed his primary focus on the community, by focusing on three areas of interest; Truancy, Neighborhood Patrols and partnering with the City of Fort Worth's Code Compliance Department.

Sergio's civic involvement extends well beyond his role as Precinct 5 Constable. He served as President of the Alamo Heights Neighborhood Association and as a board member for the Stone Soup Connection, an after-school program. He also belongs to the Texas Justice of the Peace and Constable's Association, where he serves on the Legislative Committee.

Some of his early accomplishments have been to strengthen the office and to better address the pressing and unique needs of Precinct 5. These include marking the constable cruisers, requiring deputies to wear uniforms, forming working relationships with other law enforcement agencies, establishing a partnership with Fort Worth Independent School District to combat Truancy, and assisting the City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Officers in enforcing illegal dumping laws.
